AASCIN is looking for a few GREAT leaders!
The Board of Directors manages AASCIN affairs. The Board of Directors is elected by the membership and is responsible for carrying out the mission and goals of AASCIN. Directors are expected to adhere to the provisions of AASCIN bylaws, ethical standards of nursing practice, and AASCIN policy and procedures in the performance of their duties. A term of office is three years. Directors may serve two consecutive terms if re-elected by the membership. A full year must elapse before being eligible for election to the Board of Directors for a third term. Qualifications to serve on the Board include: (1) Current licensure as a Registered Nurse; (2) Current Active AASCIN membership for the previous two years; (3) Currently in practice, with at least two years of recent experience in SCI nursing. Members interested in serving on the Board should submit a Board of Directors Nomination Data Form and a Curriculum Vitae (CV) or Resume by February 15. The Nominating Committee will convene a teleconference to select the candidates to be placed on the ballot. Nominees will be selected based upon their AASCIN involvement, organizational experience, nursing experience, goals, and planned contributions to AASCIN. A ballot containing the slate of candidates and the Nomination Data Forms will be mailed to the membership for voting by March 31. Newly elected Board members will be notified at the end of May and will take office at the close of the Annual Business Meeting held in Las Vegas.
Please consider this opportunity for professional growth and to make a major contribution to AASCIN.
Board of Directors has vacancies!
Are you someone who aspires to give of yourself? Someone who wants to make a difference? If that speaks to you, then AASCIN is soliciting your nomination for the Board of Directors.
In the current healthcare climate, where the day to day demands of work are intensified by budget cuts, AASCIN volunteers may find it difficult to participate in AASCIN activities that take time from an already packed work week. If your employer has concerns about your participation in AASCIN, perhaps we can give them a reason (or two) to consider the benefits of volunteerism in a national association:
Serving AASCIN helps to build professional skills such as enhanced leadership abilities, communication, and team work. The development of these skills benefits your company.
Serving AASCIN builds your knowledge base about healthcare issues, legislative issues, and SCI practices to contribute to an improved level of practice.
Serving AASCIN gives you exposure to SCI healthcare personnel and related healthcare professionals in a variety of settings which establishes a broader vision on the trends and changes in the healthcare industry. This can help lead your company to better meet future healthcare challenges.
Serving AASCIN gives your employer nationwide visibility and increased credibility within your community.
Serving AASCIN advances the national development of SCI nursing care.
