    The Distinguished Service Award
This award is given to an individual who has made outstanding contributions to the AASCIN. These contributions have a national impact on SCI nursing practice. Historically, this award recognizes the distinguished service of James J. Peters, a founder of the AASCIN and Susan Brady, MSN, RN, first president of the AASCIN.

Criteria

The nominee must:

  • Demonstrate outstanding contributions to SCI nursing practice
  • Contribute significantly to national activities related to SCI health care
  • Contribute significantly to the growth and function of the AASCIN
  • Demonstrate dedication in achieving excellence in the healthcare of persons with SCI.

The Membership Committee reviews and rates all nominations and submits its recommendations to the Board of Directors for confirmation. The awards are presented during the Annual Conference. The nominee(s) selected will receive a grant and per diem to attend the Annual conference. If the selected nominee is unable to attend, the presentation will be made in absentia.
