Directions for Submission of Papers/Posters

I. Presenter Information Form

1. Provide required information for each presenter.

II. Abstract Form

1. Abstract Title: Title should be brief and limited to 10 words.

2. Presenters/Authors: Names and credentials should be on the form and should be typed as you wish them to appear in the program.

3. Select format.

4. Select only one level using the following criteria:

  • Basic—Less than 2 years of clinical experience in SCI nursing

  • Intermediate—2 to 4 years of SCI clinical experience and additional educational experience in SCI nursing or related fields

  • Advanced—More than 4 years of clinical experience in SCI nursing, including continuing education courses, or having graduated from an advanced nursing program with 2 years of SCI nursing

5. Select only one level of the C.A.R.E. track classification using the following criteria:

• C = Clinical

• A = Administrative

• R = Research

• E = Education

6. Objectives

  • List 1–3 objectives that relate to the overall purpose of your presentation (i.e., describe, recite, list, identify, define).

7. Content Outline

  • Briefly outline the specific ideas and concepts to be presented, consistent with the stated objectives.

8. Abstract Text

  • Text must be typed using a font no smaller than 10, and single spaced within the box.

  • Text must be in narrative form, not exceeding 200 words, and not include tables, charts, or graphs.

  • Text should be a brief summary of the overall goals, concepts, and relevance of the presentation.

  • A research abstract should include a statement of the problem, brief description of the methodology, major findings, and implications for SCI nursing practice.

  • An abstract that includes endorsement of a single brand name product, equipment, or facility will not be accepted for presentation.

 

III. Computer Disk

1. Submit a disk containing a word file (Microsoft Word WordPerfect) that includes the title of the presentation, the author’s name, the abstract, the objectives, and the content outline.

2. Affix a label to the disk to indicate:

  • Format used (PC or MAC)

  • Type of word processor program

  • Author(s) name(s)

  • Title of presentation

IV. Audio-Visual Set-up

  • All presentations should be adapted to the available equipment. Each of the conference presentation rooms will contain the following audio-visual equipment:

• Wireless lavalier microphones (2)

• Dual carousel 35-mm slide projectors

• Dual front projection screens

• Electric pointer (1)

• Projector feeding computer and video(projector and connector cables only)

  • No other equipment (e.g., overhead projectors) will be provided.

PRESENTERS ARE REQUIRED TO PROVIDE THEIR OWN DESKTOP OR LAPTOP COMPUTERS. NO DESKTOP OR LAPTOP COMPUTERS WILL BE PROVIDED ON-SITE.  PRESENTERS WILL NOT BE REIMBURSED FOR COMPUTER RENTALS.

  • A disk with proper label
